| A day at the office... |
This picture is one I took at work this week. One of the houses I inspected is in the country area of El Cajon and this cute little donkey belongs to the neighbor. He was so friendly. He has a friend who lives with him, but he was a bit more skittish and barely let me take his picture. This job requires that I take oodles of pictures, and sometimes the pictures get to be cute things, like donkeys and horses.
We've had quite a good drying out after the storms of December, and it's taken a lot of time to get every one's flood damage repaired. I believe I've gotten down to two houses left, and then there are the usual hot water heater damages that occur in the middle of the night and on weekends. Nothing like getting up to a wet, soggy floor. I am amazed at the way water heaters can develop a leak and in a matter of hours, cost thousands of dollars of damage. I've learned that there is a life span for appliances and water heaters, and none of us ever really pay attention. In reality, it would be cheaper to replace a thousand dollar water heater than to wait for it to begin to leak and then pay twenty-five hundred dollars for a new water heater, emergency call out for the plumber (these things always happen at night) and replace the floor and sheet rock, paint and labor. It's just parting with the money for a new appliance when it's still working that goes against my Scottish ways.
The Girl has completed the first week of school, and so far it's all looking good. How great is it to be young and have these challenges before you. It's very overwhelming, but I suppose there is a sense of excitement and furture-rama dreaming involved in going to university. My furture dreams are of a growing 401 and a sound mind.
Stick Dog has a new name...Shedding Stick Dog. I can not believe how much hair that dog has! I look a bit shaggy when I leave the house because I can't seem to get it off me, no matter what. I believe he did this on purpose, shedding in the middle of January and doing it inside the house. Sheesh. He is having a bit of a hard time with Girl being in school again. He is so spoiled and loves the attention he gets when his peeps are all home. I love it when he greets me with his sweet eyes and wagging tail. He's been with us nearly a year! As the Girl says, it's been one looonnnggg year!
