Judgement Day

The "day" arrived on Thursday. That was the day we found out what the judgement was from the law suit brought by the mad tenant to the large real estate company. The plaintiff sued for $7500, the maximum allowed by law in small claims court.

When we went to court, we were forced to mediation. During mediation, we offered about $450 but the plaintiff said, "not enough" so off to the court room we went. The judge, after reviewing the case post trial, decided to give the plaintiff just over $500 plus the filing fee of $75 dollars back in judgement. We will get all the details by mail next week, but this was really a victory for us. The monies were were willing to give back were due them, a paid bill we charged for (the bill was paid again by the tenant two days after we paid it) and a couple of other items that were questionable as to who was responsible. I believe this is what the judge saw, but I will know for sure next week. Wahoo! Wonder if the plaintiff is happier now.

At last, the week draws to a close. It's been a busy two weeks. Work has been very, very busy. So many changes since November, when Wendy was let go, the office moved into temporary offices (moving again in 4-5 weeks to permanent offices), co-workers quitting, and more personnel changes. It's been frustrating at times, but very busy on the production front. I am thankful we have a very outgoing new accounts agent, she's keeping us all employed. Still, because of the changes, the lines have become blurred in the job required duties. Some of the things I do aren't in my job description. Some day, when the dust settles, those lines will darken up and be more set. Until then, it will be all hands on deck or we will sink.

Another event that transpired this week was the unveiling of the IPhone by Verizon. What anticipation there was in this family for this phone. The Girl was saving her dollars for a new IPhone. The commercials beckoned to her like a flute to a cobra. Yesterday was the DAY! Unfortunately it was the day of doom, as well. Stick Dog took off with Girl's beautiful piano black phone and took it for a romp around the back yard. It, of course, fell apart and when it was discovered, only part of it was in the house. The search began and when all parts were found, and the phone was put back together, it looked like a phone from Arkansas. It was being held together with tape. We are talking upscale Arkansas here because it was scotch tape not duct tape. But the phone wouldn't stay on. Girl was willing to wait until September to get her IPhone with her upgrade, but when I saw her phone, it knew it was a lost cause. She now has an IPhone, and has enjoyed the beegeebers out of it. How fun to be in on the first day of something and not having planned it!

This week was fun, busy, hard and exciting. I suppose that means it was all good. Still, I will enjoy a good nights sleep and a lounge around the coffee pot in my jammies in the morning.    c[]
