Back Up!

This family has learned a new skill. We have learned to back up. This is not to be confused with putting the car in reverse and going in a backward direction, this is backing up the computer files.

We have always had very good anti-virus software and have never had more than the occasional email hacker who will send all my contacts an email with a purse shopping site. I've always been careful with sites and never really worried about any one getting in or any virus shutting us down. What we weren't prepared for was a hard drive crash.

The Girl's laptop suffered catastrophic eruption with a hard drive crash. It was bad...the computer geek wasn't able to retrieve anything. She lost everything, all the pictures, school work, loaded programs and personal stuff, like passwords and things we never give two thoughts over. When the hard drive was replaced, it took the laptop back to factory settings. It was a very sad day. This is why we learned a lesson in backing up the files. You would be surprised at what should be backed up. Even Itunes needs to be backed up.

All of Stick Dog's pictures were lost, and that is so sad. I had some saved on the desk top computer and sent those to her to help her rebuild her data base. Now we just need to find the CD to reload the printer info on so that she can print again.

School is nearly over for the Spring semester. Girl will be moving into the sorority house in a couple of weeks and begin taking a couple of classes over the summer. How exciting these days are. She has officially made the active list and is over joyed that the "not hazing" hazing is finished. So much to learn, so much to memorize. Now it is on to the socializing and school work, but mostly school work.
