I'm glad that this week is nearly over. It started out with emotional feelings, and thankfully got better. Work is very busy, and that is good. Busy means job security. The company is growing at the rate of 3 properties a week. That is phenomenal! When I started, we had 80 properties, and we now have 93. This is good news. We did hire a new leasing agent, so that brings us up to 3. Then there is Kevin. I have no idea what his job is. I know that tomorrow I will be flooded with invoices to post to work orders, and again that's good news.
My week was interrupted by ...jury duty. I really wouldn't mind doing my civic duty, but it can never be made convenient or comfortable. Convenient means the closest courthouse, which it never is. I have my venue changed to El Cajon simply because I don't have to take the trolley or beat up homeless beggars while trying to park, or ride. Comfort could be as simple as putting in better chairs. Chairs that fold up are not comfortable, and the chairs at the jury lounge are nearly as bad as those. Add to that you get to sit right next to someone. No privacy or move allowance. It looks like a huge bus terminal with 4 television sets on different channels with muted sounds so that all you see are the words. I noticed that the closed captioning folks spell a whole lot like me. You can only see the words, though, if you are right up next to it. I noticed Jennifer Hudson's song was being mouthed by Regis.
I took my laptop and had my phone so that I could conduct business. I wasn't able to take calls, but I was able to return them when I went outside. So my part of the job didn't suffer, much. Now I will say, at 10:30 we were all released. All the criminals pleaded and cases were settled without a jury. Fine with me, and it seemed everyone else, and off to home I went. Then my "check engine" light came on. Oh well, there's always Monday.
I feel obligated to put this picture in my blog today. I can't believe how well the drive through windows works, for most people.
Sorry about a rotten week! I hope your Friday is much better.
