Summer has arrived!

Here in America's finest city, we have a late summer. It last as long as most summers, just gets a late start. We have May grey and June gloom, and while that weather pattern isn't too good for getting your tan on or playing at the beach, it's just God's way of reminding us that the heat is on the way. Over the years, I've learned to love the gloomy grey weather.

Now we are in July. July starts the summer this year with an early monsoon season. Hot and humid are the words of the day. It's best if I don't look at the weather report or read the passing temperature sign. I've lived here long enough to know that there really are days when you could use an air conditioner, probably a couple of weeks broken into a couple of days at a time. I would love to have one, but once it's on I'm afraid I wouldn't want to ever turn it off. My biggest obstacle is to figure out what to eat. I sure don't want to cook anything, and anything with carbs will make me hotter, so it's fruit and more fruit. I'm watermelloned out.

On the really hot and icky days, I'll load up Stick Dog and we can take a drive in the air conditioned car. It a good way to spend an hour cooling off and getting to know your city. He likes the ride and cool air. I love the cool air and if I have a few dollars, there's ice tea at Starbucks.

The Girl is having fun spending the summer at the sorority house. If I remove the fact that she doesn't have a house key and has been locked out a few times, or that she doesn't have a parking clicker and got a parking ticket that cost more than a month of parking in the lot, the summer has been a blast. She seems to enjoy the sisters and the hub bub that comes with group living. Who woulda thought it!
