Campaign costs

Call it what you will, President Obama is campaigning.  He is calling it a 3 day tour of the Midwest to talk about growing the economy, but it really is about growing his upcoming campaign. What irks me most with this is that he had a bus made special for this tour at the cost of over a million dollars at a time when balancing the budget may be more important than spending a million dollars on a bus, not to mention the amount of support vehicles. Let me see, gas for a bus and support cars/trucks has to be in the hundreds of dollars daily, add to that lodging and food daily and we are talking a lot more money spent than information gleaned to help the economy grow.
Here is an excerpt from a news sourse of the cost of the bus.

"The White House says the $1.1 million bus, and its accompanying motorcade of more than two dozen vehicles, allows the president to visit "real people in real places" that wouldn't otherwise be easily accessible. Obama began the three-day trip in Minnesota and ends in Illinois Wednesday."

I don't believe he went any where he couldn't have gotten to by using the presidential airplane and a car, or the presidential helicopter and a car. How long will the Americans fall for this this. We need to pull out head out of the sand and see the real events. Having a bus built for a 3 day tour? I'll be thinking about this when I pay my taxes this year.

  1. good grief. that is ridiculous. he can have a $1.1 million bus built for a 3-day tour, while my husband and i will spend the next 30 years paying off our $130k house?

  2. I could have walked a half-mile to see his motorcade coming down the freeway. But I didn't.
