Okay, we went to Yuma. It was mighty hot and we saw plenty of thunder heads, but not a one of them gave up the rain for us. Part of the fun would have been in a thunder storm.
Se we went to Cracker Barrel. Lunch was good, but the waiter was sorry. He obviously couldn't hear us because the Girl ordered a chicken salad sandwich and he asked her if she wanted it grilled or fried, what sort of dressing and I said, "for a chicken salad?". Obviously he heard chicken salad and the sandwich word went far away from his ear. When the Girl answered his questions, I was perplexed, as was she. How can you order your chicken salad sandwich fried and with dressing? So when he brought our drinks, I told him he must have not understood that we wanted the chicken salad sandwich not a chicken salad. He look like he had no idea what I was talking about. She got the sandwich, though.
The store is interesting. Lots of odd things, lots of neat things, and some things I wasn't too sure about. We browsed a bit and then decided to go to the Yuma Territorial Prison. Wow, that was fun! Supposed to be haunted, but we didn't hear any strange voices or see any odd things happening. But we did get to have a tour. The cells were very small, and I mean small like my bathroom small. The walls are very thick, I'm sure to keep them warm and cool, depending on the season. At one point, it was used as a high school, after it was closed as a prison. The mascot name was Criminals. That is really a rather good mascot name. The uniforms for the teams were prison stripes. And, the walls had been etched in by the students. Graffiti was big then, I suppose.
We ambled to the river. It was pretty full and there were lots of people utilizing the water. We saw flotillas going down the river. That looked like fun to me. I would do that. But when we got to the river, we didn't even stick a toe in. It looks cold and I have a couple of problems with cold water and not being able to see the bottom. That's why I would float, but not swim. I am a chicken. Still, there's nothing quite as impressive as seeing the Colorado River, unless it's the Mississippi River.
