At least that is my hope.
This was a very frustrating and roller coaster week. I know that it doesn't help that I would like to spend quality time singing Christmas songs and spreading cheer.
The trip to the attorney was interesting. The prep was full of information I wished I had already known. I don't believe my boss is very good at communicating the information that is given to him. I found out that 2 of the 4 "victims" of the lawsuit have settled. Mr Bello has received $44,000 dollars between the two. His asking from my company, me included, is $175,000. The other remaining party is being sued for $75,000. So, in doing the math, since he has received 44K, and if he wins a judgement for full asking price, he may received nearly $350K over this.
We went to depositions on Tuesday. Six grueling hours for the property manager. The other attorney was brutal. He played ping pong with the emails and phone calls between the client, owner, plumber and contractor, going back and forth with them between February, March and April. He bounced between April and February so much that I became a bit motion sick. She held her own and did well. When it was my turn, it was much shorter. My questions were only on the beating, I mean assault. The end result was I was asked if I was afraid of Mr. Bello. I replied, "yes, he had us cornered in the bathroom" and it all got a bit quite after that. Mr. Bello didn't stay for my questions, but he was really acting a bit odd during the property manager's questioning.
We will go to mediation next, on the 7th of January. It is required by his lease that we do this, then they will call a settlement meeting, which I am almost confident that we are not interested in, and then trial on 21 February.
After missing a complete day of work, I had to hustle the rest of the week to catch up and keep up. Add to the stresses, the boss was leaving on Thursday and one of our north county PMs, as well. The north county PM has a property in Bonsall, though he said it is in Oceanside. He lies. This property was in the process of vacating a tenant, unwillingly. She finally moved all things out on Monday. The PM and the boss discussed the amount of work that will need to be done. Boss said he would go out and give an estimate for work needed, as long as it was before he left on Thursday. Can you see where this is going?
So the PM had the property re keyed on Wednesday, boss couldn't go out there, PM gave me a very incomplete list of items and I called him about his inspection. He told me it wasn't his place to do this, since he wasn't the contractor in charge of repairs, it would be the boss. Um...everyone is leaving for many days, weeks, months and no one is going to be around to do the inspection. Oh wait! Rhonda is in town, she can meet a few vendors and Viola!. I hate driving up that way, and it galls me that I do this for work that belongs to others. Just because I chose not to vacate over the holidays makes it very easy for others.
The PM will be gone 6 weeks, the boss 3, the assistant 10 days and she put in her notice. Another PM will be gone 3 weeks, divided. I am so tired of inconsiderate people. But, I will get a pay check, so that is all that I should be expecting.
Now we are ramping up towards Christmas! There are wrapped presents under the tree and someone picked up cheese whiz. Honestly, it says it has real cheese in it, but I am not sure what that really means. We have cookies, victuals for Christmas dinner, monkey bread makings for Christmas morning, scones for tomorrow before church, and chili burger makings for tonight. I feel very full already. I don't know if everyone else eats like this, but I am always grateful for January, the lean month.
Thanks for the update, I wondered how it went. I prayed for you on Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteI shouldn't be, but I am so often flabbergasted at people's greed and inconsideration.
