All Pomp and some Circumstance

He did it!! The puppy graduated from Puppy Class and was able to retain his puppy hood. Whew. He actually did very well on all his commands and didn't try to chew any one's dog up in the process. I was thrilled. However, the trainer's dog wasn't very pleased with Ranger and took him down to the floor with a big growl. Klaus is a huge Great Dane so Ranger was very subservient to him. Served him right, trying to be a bully the previous week.

Alas, poor Ranger, is now gender neutral. He did very well with the surgery and was up and about that evening, jumping on the bed. We were told to keep him from jumping, playing aggressively and to try to stay calm. Ha ha. That wasn't going to happen. I gave him a pain pill, but only because I thought "surly he needs one" but it made him sleep (hurrah!). I really wondered how many nights I would be able to give him one before he became addicted. So we had one great night of sleeping. For the most part, he is a pretty good dog at night, but he will wake me up barking at....nothing. But often it's reflecto dog. Some one has forgotten to put up the baby gate to keep him away from the sliding door.

Now our puppy has learned some very bad behavior. He pushed the front screen open and chased the mailman. Oh yes, the mailman. Randy was out there trying to get him to come in (the dog) in his bathrobe and Naomi was trying to get the dog in the car. She won, and the mailman went on his way. I was gone to get tickets for the fair and missed the ordeal. Naomi announced  she was so embarrassed by the event that she was moving away and leaving the dog here. So, we are putting up a security door that he can't push open and we are still getting mail. Oh, and Naomi still lives at home. I'm glad.

The evening is so pleasant today, that I'm sitting outside on the patio watching the dog lope around with a basket ball in his mouth. He is such a goofball.

This week my friend Debbie came to see me from Oregon. Well I say "see me" but the reality is she came to see her parents and I get in on the deal. I miss her and when I get to spend time with her, I miss her more. She is a friend who is a true sister. She's never badmouthed anyone and is always uplifting. Not to mention she loves to thrift!

The Girl got paid twice this week! One was a paycheck she should have gotten back in March when she first started working. I wondered why she wasn't paid that first week. So it's all gravy now!
