Well, what a week! Going back into the office was a little scary and gave me a fluttery feeling. I knew I'd be facing a job that requires immediate responses at time, and time frames that are always a day behind, and some mad tenants and some happy tenants, and some mad home owners and some happy owners. There are times when answering the phone can be a terrible thing. Like the man who yelled at me, what a dope!
The first day was really nothing. I don't think I offered anyone anything, but I did get some filing done. Stacey looks great, but so ready to have her baby! Pregnant looks very good on her. The days following that honeymoon day are a blur. I jumped in with all my gusto. I had to learn to do inspections, and I am certain I've made some errors on the check list, but I certainly mean not to. Had to drive many miles to take pictures and inspect in EC, LJ and UTC. It was interesting to see empty homes and apartments and I really understand why it's important to be sure that the homes are done exactly correct. So many regulations. Then there is the daily stuff that happens when your house needs attention, usually a plumbing issue that demands immediate actions, according to the tenant, and MUST be attended to right now, even if it has been acting up for the whole week. Oh yes, human nature.
Today, the room mate moved out. She went to the dorms in her school. We didn't see much of her while she was here. I have a spare room again, so if the snoring gets bad.... We need to move the computer back in there and get if off the table. Makes me insane to have it there. Poor table, holds some much junk and it was designed to hold food and happy times. I will try to set my foot back down, but in reality, we just don't spend time together for dinner with all our wild schedules.
Jean had surgery this week on one of her cataracts. She's enjoying the new vision and will be fitted for new glasses next week. It was a long week for her. Found out she's driving on a expired license. Sure didn't want to know that. So many repercussions.
The Girl starts school next Monday. What a wild trip this has been. Year 3. She sent in her application to State this week for Spring enrollment. I really wish this for her. She has worked so very hard to get there. It would do her heart a world of good to get this hurdle jumped. While I realize we deserve nothing, she has worked hard and for the lack of a better phrase she really does deserve this reward.
So my week is over, for today. Tomorrow means it's time to whip the house together and put some victuals in the cupboards. I also want to do some fun shopping for special things. The Dog still lives to see another day.
I can relate to someone needing something done RIGHT NOW though actually it's been put off for a long time ... like the patients who call for a chiropractic appt. because of terrible pain in their neck/back, etc., so they need the appt. TODAY or else they are going to die or something ... and come to find out they fell off a ladder two weeks ago ... sheesh, PEOPLE.
ReplyDeleteGlad you survived your first week!
