What is a Jinx?

Today is a day full of contradictions. It's Friday the 13th, supposed to be a bad luck day. However, one of the most honest christian man I know was born today, making it a good day for him and for me. Happy Birthday CP!

But I don't want to jinx my day, either. I haven't blogged at all about my new job, and the reason is....I was excited about starting my job in June, made preparations for it, and then it was a bust. I was offered another job to start in August for about 12 weeks in the same office. When I asked if the job was still available at the first of the month (I wanted to be ready for disappointment), I was told there was a full time opening in a job that I was familiar with and would I be interested in that one instead. I took the job, but I am fully aware that in the last 18 months there have been 2 other people in that job. I am not stupid, it's got to be a tough job. So I took it.

All that to say, I will start on Monday. I hope I can be a good employee and do a great job. The money will pay for school and that is the ultimate goal.

Speaking of school, this is the last week of summer school for the Girl. Then one week off and back to the fall grind schedule.  She is putting in the application for the spring semester this month so I hope that it goes through and she will be a full time student at SDSU.

Ranger had a great day at school last night. He got to play in the tunnel, fake a jump, walk through a ladder on the ground and check out the A frame. It was a dream come true! He liked the challenge, or so it seemed. He turns 8 months old this Sunday! Wow has time changed him. From the 6 week old puppy who looked like an opossum to a fine looking Border Collie with a little attitude.... Speaking of which, he can't go to the Dog Park anytime soon. He has found out that he has to leave if he comes too close to us. Come on! He chases the ball for an hour and it really is time to go home. I have tried using the catch gate but he caught on to that in two days. Then we got to where we could catch him at the water station, but that lasted 2 days. We used a special toy last time, but it was iffy. We are working on his come skills now, and he will not be allowed to go back into the park not knowing how to come when called.

Then there was the "event" with Chihuahua Lady. Her dogs are just plain old mean. They pack and attack. She just watches and tells the owner of the poor dog being attacked that they are just saying "hello". Umm, no they aren't. I hollered at her, as did Naomi. She has 5 dogs, and after watching Animal Hoarding, I think she's got that mentality. Now if my dog attacked hers, it would be a different story, and she wouldn't believe me if I said that my dog was only saying "hello".

So, in all, do I believe in bad luck today? No, but I do believe we can do some pretty stupid things and blame in on the date.
