I realize it's really only the 30th of the month, but this is probably my last entry of the year. I plan to spend what ever time I have left after work tomorrow doing something with family. Knowing me, I'd forget to wish myself a Happy New Year and come in a few days late. So I'd rather be early.
This year has been quite the year. I started the year wanting a job, and ended the year having a job. Not too shabby. No one has been overly sick, the Girl has finally gotten over the double dose of mono, endured a year of some unknown condition, that took the right doctor 5 minutes to diagnose, and we are all still healthy, some of us are smarter, and others of us are doing just fine.
Bubba died at the beginning of the year and Stick Dog has been with us nearly a year, and boy what a year that was! I went from giving injections twice a day to teaching a puppy to not "go" in the house. The Girl taught him to use the dog door, and the race was on. He's very good in the house, now, and doesn't need any one to get up and let him out in the middle of the night. We endured the hateful neighbor across the canyon and got all that settled. The birds are still living, though I don't know why, and the cat, who isn't too fond of the Dog, is still hanging out in the garage. He just isn't going to like the Dog.
Girl got a job, I got a job, and the Husband kept his job. So we are all employed. It has its rewards and frustrations. We don't always get to choose our workmates, but when the paycheck comes, it's all good. Girl gets to go to school without debt and worry.
We went through a mild summer, and ended with some wild winter rain. We have had no accidents, the roof doesn't leak and we have plenty to eat. Our mom's are well, but older, and Grandpa is doing pretty good with granny Franny. Siblings are all well, and some have welcomed grandchildren! Children are grown and most are doing well in life. All I can truly speak to is Girl, and she is doing very well. Being adult is a difficult transition, but one she is working though with maturity.
We've been well taken care of, for sure.
So in all, we've had a good year. Here's to hoping for another good year ahead.
