The week is drawing to a close today. The office will be closed tomorrow, since everyone is out of town. I am working remotely today from home, because the boss and his family are going up to the mountains to ski. How cool is that! This job is a winner. I know that it will get busier, but for now I am glad that things are slow. I have to get used to the system that is being used. Since the office is paperless, everything gets scanned. Learning to do the invoicing on the program is easy, and is very efficient. Most maintenance issues come over the Internet, and all orders go out over the Internet. That's what makes it easy to work remotely. I have downloaded the program we are using for all the properties, vendors and owners. So I have that readily available to me to take care of any issue that comes up. I don't understand all the complexities of using the computer and Internet, but it seems to work! Web based programing must be good, though I am a bit of a pessimist and wonder if anything bad could happen....
The Husband and I will head off tomorrow to the sunny town of Ridgecrest. This is not my favorite place to visit, but I like to visit with the people. In laws are fun, in prescribed doses. They both have health issues, and the reality is they are getting older and that combined with illness only tells me that they are winding down in this world. Makes me wonder why there is still a theory of evolution when nothing I know of gets better or rebuilds itself.
We plan to take some new guns and kill a few boxes. There is a tower of boxes in the garage that fall on occasion that need to be targets. One good thing about Ridgecrest, there's plenty of desert and no one cares if you shoot off several hundred rounds.
We are staying in a motel while we are there, so it will sort of be a good "vacation" for us. Staying at the in-laws makes me a little nuts because they are both nearly deaf and everything is so loud! The television is loud, the phones ring loud, everyone has to talk loud...and I just want some quite in the morning. Nothing like waking up to 4 loud phones ringing simultaneously at 7:00 A.M. Oh for goodness sake! It's way more effective than any alarm clock I've heard! I don't want to get up at 7 in the morning on a day off, and I certainly don't want to get up at the sound of clanging phones. Oh, they don't all ring the same, either.
So it's good to be working again, and it's good to be happy about it. While I miss my old job, I realized it had become very difficult to deal with the office politics. After my boss was laid off, things just went down hill and no one could give me any answers. Made me sad. The things I miss are Heather, some owners and the vendors. They made my job fun, even if they were quirky.
