Spring is here!

As far as seasons go, I love fall. I love the crisp air with a hint of chill. Growing up, we had to rake a ton'o leaves but we had the pleasure of being able to burn them. We would plan all fall for the bon fire. By the time it came, it would be required by the weather to wear a sweatshirt. So when I see a hoodie, I instantly smell the smoke from the leaves and wood branches from the trees. That is a sensory memory I will never forget.

But, I like spring, too. And it has come. We had an abundance of rain so the grass (weeds) were very tall and green. It sort of made it look like we have a yard when the lawn was mowed. Now that spring is here, the winter grass is dying and the weeds are dying, thanks to weed killer. So, the yard is looking like ick. I guess we better start watering. The glads are starting to pop up and the roses are budding. I noticed that the geraniums are very colorful, too. Now, just got to keep things watered, until I see the bill.

Spring brings it's lovely weather with it. I like to see the sunny afternoons, and working at the beach, I'd like to see a beautiful sunset. The temps are mild, and it may be time to take off a blanket from the bed. We can open the windows during the daytime and air out the house. I do like spring.

The coming months will bring a typical weather pattern that I like, but mostly on weekends. It's the "coastal low clouds morning and evening with afternoon clearing" that we call the May grey and June gloom. It makes great sleeping in weather on weekends, and you get the afternoon clearing to get your daily dose of sunshine. And, the weather pattern that follows that is HOT, so I've learned to enjoy the grey and gloom.

The only thing about this season that isn't pleasant is that it causes Stick Dog to itch. Had I known...border collies have itchy skin in the dry season, and he was miserable last year. I hope that this year we can nip it in the bud earlier and get more relief. Poor Stick Dog!
