The End of the Year

As my last entry for 2011, I really don't have much to say. Christmas was very low key. Jean wasn't able to come and stay with us, and so Greg and Nathan didn't come over, either. It was the Three Musketeers for dinner. It was all good. In the afternoon, we went to Fallbrook and met with Jean and Greg/Nathan, who was cooking her dinner. That was very nice.

Work has been relatively slow, but I fully expect to see a jump in calls by tomorrow night. Folks will be returning to their homes after a vacation elsewhere and something won't be working and it will all be an emergency. Gotta get rested up.

This is a picture of Stick Dog with his new "no gap" dog door. It came and was the correct door the first time from a reputable dealer. I was just furious at my stupid Scottish penny pinching. It took a couple of days for Stick Dog to get used to this door. It is lower and he didn't like it going up. I'm sure that the Husband made lots of noise and commotion trying to get it in. I heard that Stick Dog took to hiding under the bed in the spare room. He has gotten over it and is starting to fly through it, like the old one. We will have to put the barricade up to slow him down. What a difference it makes to have a door that doesn't bow. The COLD wind would just blow through the gap like a vacuum. If I was sitting at the table trying to do some work, I would freeze. Not that the window is well insulated or the door gap free, but it is better than being able to fly a kite in the kitchen. You can see that the door isn't fully flush to the dog door, but it's plum.

I am looking forward to what promises this new year has. If all goes well, and according to the only way we know how to plan, this year should bring the end of college (actually I believe the Girl will go one more semester to graduate in the spring) and that is unbelievable. It seems like we just finished high school, and here we are planning another graduation. I hope this year to accomplish some weighty goals. I also want to get a new dryer. My dyer works, but is not as efficient as it should be. It was made the same year my house was built. Time for a new one. My one concern for this year is, who will be the new president?

So on that, I say adieu to 2011 and grasp on to 2012, in the hopes that I can keep up. Happy New Year!
