I got gypped last year when I was working for C21. We didn't have a party of any sort for Christmas. I think we were all concerned about the move and the money was ripped away to pay for moving costs. In any case, we didn't have a Christmas party and I was bummed.
The last office party I attended was when I worked at the law office. Didn't like that at all, the boss was a newer version of the wicked witch and she just plain scared me.
This year, we had a dinner party. I will say it was fun and very eventful. We were going to a lovely place in La Jolla, the Brockton Villa. It was an old house refurbished to make a very expensive restaurant. When we pulled up, you could hear the seals barking on the rocks below. You could smell them, as well. When the Husband and I went in, we meet our fellow diners and began to chat about the business, daily events and even some of the people we deal with. It was pretty nice on the deck and we had heaters. The wine was flowing, but the Husband and I were imbibing in some very good coffee. It was a bit chilly and nothing tastes as good as a very good cup of coffee, sipped on a deck by the ocean. It's all just too good. We had ordered appetizers and and were making some progress in deciding what to eat for dinner when the power went out. Poof! no lights, no music and it was up and down the block. Being a property management company, we all whipped out the smart phones and got on the SDG&E site to see what was going on. It was some downed overhead lines and affected much of La Jolla and Solidad Mountain. It's amazing what you can find out via a smart phone. We found this avenue when we had the Great Power Outage in SoCal, September 2011. Finally, the manager came to our table and said that we have the option of going to the sister restaurant in Bird Rock (Beaumonts) or we could just depart and find our own place. We chose the Bird Rock location. It was very crowded, had a bar and live music, but the food was scrumptious! I had the best fish with pesto and asparagus, another great cup of coffee and heard music from my early adult lifetime. You know, the songs we heard at the school dances and proms.
The evening ended around 9:30, for us anyway. We had a good time, and the dinner was amazing. The events were unusual and the people I work with are pretty good. I will say, I was the 2nd oldest person there. That is just weird.
For going to my second office Christmas party, it was pretty good. I like the people I work with, and we muddle though the daily stuff in an organized way. I am looking forward to the next party.
