I'm a ranblin' wreck from Georgia Tech.....

We arrived in Atlanta last night. We were suppose to arrive during the daylight hours, but a mechanical delay and weather delay kept us in Phoenix a bit longer and in the air a bit longer. I'm not complaining, I had no where else to be. Plus, all that time gave me people watching time.

My mom used to call it being noisy, but now it is accepted as people watching. On the way to Phoenix, I sat next to a man that was a figgiter. He faked reading a book, which was titled the Genesis of Justice, and he just wouldn't stop moving. I was nearly sitting in the Husband's lap trying to keep him from jabbing and poking me. And when we landed in Phoenix, BAM! he was out of the seat like a bullet fired from a long gun. It didn't help, we were too far back in the plane to make any headway. I was glad to see him go. I have to say, that a one hour flight sent more people to the loo than I ever knew was possible. I could completely understand the pregnant lady, but one lady was in there before we taxied off the gate! It looked like a secret passage way to somewhere magical the way people lined up to go in.

When we got to Phoenix, we high tailed it ( I really know what that means since we have a Border Collie) to the next gate, only to find our flight was delayed. There was a mechanical problem with the number 2 engine, so they went to the parking lot and got another plane. No problem, we got a spinach wrap and a coke and had a bite to eat, then when they called for boarding, we got on. While waiting to board, we watched fellow passengers in the boarding area and I pointed out who I didn't want to sit next to. One was a rather large fellow who wore his headphones and bopped the whole time. Mr Fig-git wasn't looking so bad compared to the Big Bopper. There was also a gentleman from a foreign country who didn't indulge in the ritual of morning showering and deodorant application. Oh please, with my super sensitive nose to BO, the Big Bopper was looking better by the minute. There would be a full plane so the possibilities were endless.

We boarded and got our seats, one window and middle seat, got belted in and the nicest young lady sat next to me. She was from Atlanta, and had been in San Diego interning at Qualcomm. We chatted a bit and then we took off and everyone settled into the routine they  established as travelers. We did what any first time traveler would do, popped out the camera and began to take pictures, of ourselves, cool clouds, Mississippi River, Lake Eufalla in OK, and some other stuff. We had a blast with our window. Everyone else closed theirs and took a nap. What a waste of a great window seat. Please, for ever mankind has wanted to fly, and to do so higher and faster after perfecting flight, and they want to shut the view off. There were some phenomenal thunder heads that we saw and for those who like to find shapes in clouds, there was enough formations to create complete zoos.

Because of the delay, we came into Atlanta late and due to the weather delay, we got to fly around Arkansas, south Georgia and a bit of north Georgia. Because of all the circling, we got to see a beautiful sunset over some thunder heads that took your breath away. The clouds had so much definition that it looked like a special affects department of a movie. Again, we ohhed and awwed over the view, while so many complained and grumbled. So what, what were they going to do? Demand that we land? Trust me, the pilot wanted to land, too.

So we get in, and head off to collect our sole bag at the carousel. We got our bag and got on the sky train and headed towards the rental car building. The sky train is a totally fun ride! It goes fast, it stops fast and it has no seats. Disney would have been proud! We got our car and headed to the car park to pick it up. They don't bring it to you, you find it in the parking garage. Very odd, but it worked. The Husband familiarized himself with the way it worked, after he washed the windows and gave the person ahead of us the brights. We loaded the GPS with the address of the hotel and off we went.

One thing I noticed was, it was nearly 11 PM Georgia time and there wasn't hardly anything open. We were hungry and we needed to check in at the hotel. We found a Burger King that was getting ready to close and dashed through the drive through line, but...I had to go in to get the food. Now really, what good was the drive though line if I had to go in and get it? Whatever, we were famished since all we had eaten was the spinach wrap all day.

At last we reached the hotel. It was late and Georgia says it's bedtime but we are Californians so it's the howling hour! Still, we have to get up at 6, GA time which means it's 3 CA time, so we head for bed, after a full meal. It was a long but short night. No more eating and going to bed.

Today, the Husband is off to training and I will find a museum to check out. I read about a railway museum and I am excited to see it. I did manage to do a little work but now it's time for play!
