Waffle House review

The Denny's of the south east.

Menu with instructions on how to order your hash browns.
Here are a couple of pictures that seem to be more important than many other institutions in this area. I heard from two people that I had to eat at the Waffle House. It's a staple, and cheap.

It was cheap. Check out those prices! Evidently hash browns are a big item and you can order them in a thousand different ways. The Husband got waffles, and I got a Texas cheese steak and smothered hash browns. I don't like hash browns, never did. I like fried potatoes, I like french fries, I like scalloped potatoes and mashed, but I don't like hash browns. I didn't like these either, but the Husband did. My texas cheese steak was pretty good, but it had a lot of mayo in it and it was an over kill, somewhat. Our dinner bills was under $10.

The service was very interesting. The female wait person was on her first day on the job without a fellow wait person to help out, so the cook was helping out. There was 2 people there, the cook and the wait person. The tables were messy and in need of clearing, and she looked frazzled. We took a table and waited and she told us several times she would be with us. Finally the cook came and took our order. I honestly don't believe either was over 21. When he brought our order over, she brought our check. It was sad, but the poor girl needed some uplifting and we weren't in a hurry anyway. We ate our dinner, or breakfast, I'm not sure which, and then we went to pay the bill and had to wait for her to find her way to the register. Poor thing, we left the check with plenty of money to cover and left after about 5 minutes. There was only one other family in there by that time, and the table were still wanting to be cleared. She had a bad day.

We have a lake/pond behind the hotel. I've seen large fish in there, I believe they are carp, turtles and ducks. I nearly tripped over a chipmunk and have walked behind a squirrel had he hopped across the bridge. I also had a chance to sit out on the covered picnic area and do some work in the morning. It was very pleasant and it was hard to concentrate on working, but I pushed through and accomplished some tasks.

I feel a little whooped by the time change and getting up at 3 am CA time is killing me all day, so I didn't make it to the museum. First thing tomorrow, hopefully.

  1. We ate at a Waffle House once in Ohio. I was not impressed. I thought it would be a diner, but it struck me as a fast-food breakfast place. I'd rather eat at Cracker Barrel.
