Oh have I been fooled!

For years, absolutely years and years, I've tried to stay ahead of the pricing and packaging game. It's a constant source of reading material, usually done at the grocery store.

A few years back, ice cream containers started to change shape, and called themselves "freezer door size" and reduced the half gallon by 25% and increased the price by who knows how much. I gave myself a pat on the back for recognizing the weak attempt and raising the price and reducing the amount and making "it" look like a great idea to purchase this new freezer door size. I was on to them!

Since then, I've watched products change packaging, pricing, and weight, all in my best interests. One thing I really love to drink is soda. I love diet Dr. Pepper and Coke Zero. I don't like white soda like 7Up or Sprite, or orange soda, grape soda or any other fruit flavored soda. So I watch for sales. The buy 2 get 2 free make me suspicious and I do the cost per can with full price on the 2 can be $12 divided by 24. Then I will look at the case of soda, and by golly it will be cheaper! So...I bought the case soda. When I brought it home, the case soda is no longer 24 cans, but 20 cans! Yep, you got that right! Boy what a sucker I was. Not again, at least not on the soda isle.

We have had a couple of very nice days of some drizzle, but it is called rain here. It was cool, and sleeping has been easier. I found myself actually snuggling in my blankets. Tomorrow will be a hot one, the Santana winds are on the way. It was good while it lasted. I will need to water stuff tonight to get through the hot winds. I still have tomatoes on the vine and I would like to have them reach the eating stage soon.

My PacNorWestern friend posted on her blog about movies and drive ins. It sure brought back some memories of the Saturday double feature movies we saw each week. It costs 25 cents to see them and it was probably 4 hrs of time we were out of the house. My candy of choice was Neccos and Flicks candy in the tube. I know some of my friend's moms went shopping and did house work during those hours. I think a lot of moms enjoyed the time way more than I will ever know. Like my friend said, it was acceptable to do and everyone did it, sort of like the moms in Britain who parked their babies outside the market while they picked up groceries. It was normal, people didn't steal babies, or murder children like you hear so much about these days. Maybe we kids, in a group, were more to deal with at the time than the solo life I see in kids these days. I loved those days. Thanks R!
