I loved the "I Love Lucy" show when I was a kid. I got to watch it before school. It came on early and I had to get the chores done first. School started late for a couple of years in my early school life, I think it was 9:30, so I was able to watch Desi and Lucy. I still like the show. One of my favorite lines is when Ricky says, "the time has come", in regards to Lucy needing to head to the hospital to have baby Ricky. This was said when he and the Mertz's were practicing getting Lucy to the hospital. It was comical to think that he would say those magical words and Fred would calmly walk down the stairs to hail a cab and Ethel would calmly phone the doctor to let him know they would be leaving shortly. Three events for one birth, just to get outside the apartment.
Needless to say, but it will be said anyway, it didn't happen that way, it was all chaotic, the phone ended up in the suit case when it was dropped and fell open. They all looked like the keystone cops when trying to get out the door. I still giggle when I think about that show. Baby Ricky was born, and amazingly looked like a 3 month old. Hollywood magic.
Well, those words have been uttered by me, the time has come. I am actively looking for a new job. I've begun the resume emailing and hope to change jobs by the end of the year. As much as I hate to give up my sometimes at home job, I will give it up to keep work at work and home at home. I will allow the boss to pay for all expenses, paper, phone, ink and breaks, while I work. Then I can come home and NOT get a call from a tenant, vendor, owner or city employee. I will hope for part time so that I can keep some sort of home life and availability to help my mother in law during the week if needed. It's just that time of life.
