Last Sunday, I had a terrible itch. Thankfully I could scratch it. It was on my ankle, and looked innocent enough, but when I scratched it, It became a raging local incident. It was seasonal plant borne dermatitis.
By Monday it had spread up both legs to the top, and the itch was so bad! I used Benedryl cream, but it wasn't working. My neighbor, who is in the medical field, thought I might have Scabies. What!!! Bugs!!! OM Goodness! By the evening, I had so much irritation, and sores, that I wasn't sleeping at all. I plopped my swollen and itchy legs into the car on Tuesday morning and headed off to urgent care. The itch and the thought of bugs was enough to send me over the edge.
Taking a side step here, I haven't been to urgent care in a very long time. When I got there, the office was closed. Thanks to a smart phone, I realized it had been closed for a year. Gee. So I headed to La Mesa, where they had one that was open.
When I got there, and thankfully they weren't busy. I whispered to the check in person, "I think I may have scabies" and she whispered back, "it's okay, you can't control everything in your life". Why not? When I got in, the doc looked at my legs and announced I was bug free. Whew! But I had a pretty severe case of dermatitis. My legs look like a mine field. She prescribed the usual steroid cream and Benedryl and I am feeling better, the itching is better. But my legs look terrible.
I knew this would be a bad year for allergies, but I have never encountered this amount of dermatitis in my life, and so quickly! Now, when I step into the grass each day to do the doggie patrol, I have to wear shoes and socks, cover my legs and step high to minimize the brushing from walking and depositing allergens on my clothing.
Oh yeah, and I am still trying to get the yard in shape for May.
PTL for no bugs! But I'm sorry you've been so itchy. I'll stop complaining about my drippy nose now ...
