Happy Cinco de Mayo, for all my fellow border Americans

Today is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and America, though the Americans really had nothing to do with the victory over the French at all in Puebla. But most people like a party, and it's another reason to eat salsa and chips, carne asada burritos and assorted drinks. I think that most Americans don't really even know where the city of Puebla is, or what the French were doing there. But, in celebration of this majestic holiday, my daughter and I will dine out at the Chipotle in Mission Valley. We won't be drinking cerveza but will no doubt drink diet coke. Ah, the need for a burrito!

So, we made it though puppy class #2. I will say that taking the pup to dog park for an hour of play prior to class seemed to help. His behavior was better, for the most part. He was given a new source of direction, using a halter instead of his harness. He hates it. I love it! He will get used to it. He is easier to control and direct. Now, I just need him to quit using me as a chew toy. I still think if Cesar Millan lived nearby and I could afford the Whisperer to come to my house, I could get a quicker grip on some of the bad stuff. I've looked at some YouTube vids, but I need the puppy to watch them with me.

I observed the anniversary of my dad's death with uneventful events. Though the thought never escaped my mind what day it was, still I don't need to make everyone miserable. My friends mom was buried on that day. Funny, that. I can't remember which day my dad was buried, but I suppose it was in 3 days, since he wasn't embalmed.

So the rest of May is moving along. Just a few short weeks and I begin my 6 month job. I look forward to working, but I know it's going to be a hard adjustment. My daughter is doing well with her job. She learns her job quickly and is definitely one to please her boss. I'm proud of her. She has a good work ethic and it shows.
