You can't wear white shoes anylonger

Labor day has passed, so according the the fashionistas, white shoes are out. At least until the New Year's parties. It really doesn't matter, since I don't have a pair of white shoes.

Labor Day has many happy memories for me, as a kid. I loved going back to school. We lived out in the middle of the boonies, so going to school meant going to town and seeing friends I hadn't seen all summer. It also meant that the season was about to change. We would be raking leaves by the middle of September and having a bon fire. By the end of September, we would be wearing our sweatshirts and jeans. I really like the autumn season. Here in San Diego, September tends to be a warm month, and we don't get any cooling until November. No sweatshirts here, for the most part.

Labor Day also marked both my sister's birthdays. My birthday was in June, and usually school recessed just before my birthday and resumed the day after Labor Day, and my middle sister's birthday in the 7th. The following week, my oldest sister has a birthday. September was a fun month for me.

Now, Labor Day is a day off from work, and both the Husband and I had the day off. It was great! Didn't do much but I could have slept in, if I could have just slept. Something about the dog and barking that will wake you up rather quickly. I also found that the 3rd day of a 3 day weekend is not the time to grocery shop. Everything is picked over and all the specials are gone.

That gave me a 4 day work week. It was a good week, no mishaps and I don't think anyone was angry with me. I believe I have made it fully into the water and have begun to swim. I like my job, though I am always fearful of losing it. This is a business of day by day, and the economy can only hold on to so many people. But I'll do my best and have fun while I'm at it.

The Girl has done well adapting to going to two schools. She has a parking sticker for State and Mesa so she can get in and parked without waiting for an empty curb site. One of the things I have to say about State is that they have a lot of parking garages, though some may be far away. You can almost always find one, just not a close one. She will certainly be in walking shape when the semester is over.

Dog isn't doing well with everyone leaving at different times. He makes his thoughts well known when we leave in the morning. He jumps and growls. Not a good thing. But he has learned to come at the Dog Park. Well, sort of. We just sit down and he eventually comes around and wonders why we aren't playing ball anymore. It works for now.

I write often about Dog, but here is a picture of Tommy the Cat. This really is the only way he would let me take a picture of him, leaving. He's not all that sweet and certainly doesn't want to be photographed. I was trying to catch him to put his collar back on. He and Groucho had a fight and his collar came off. He is sort of a brat.

Another week of my life finished. I hope it mattered.

  1. Do white tennis shoes count? If not, I am SO in trouble!

I got a new purse out of the "Labor Day" rule. My purse is off-white, I had gotten it earlier this summer. I told my hubby that I couldn't POSSIBLY carry that off-white purse after Labor Day, and look! Purses on clearance at JCPenneys! How CONVENIENT! :)

Sounds like life is rolling along rather smoothly for you. And yes, it mattered. :)
