It seems as though some days are just so unusual that you can't believe those things could really happen. Wednesday was that sort of day. When the day was over, I was again glad to crawl into bed and say "si-onara". I need to set the story...
When we moved here in '93, we moved in with a German shepherd, a black cat and two parakeets. We had to give up our Siberian husky to sell our house, and when the gangsta boys found out, our home was robbed. So we had to get another dog. We got a German shepherd from a rescue group and had her a couple of months before the house sold. She kept the house safe from any other robbers. She was a good watch dog and a great family dog. When we moved into our house here, she came along and after a couple of days here, our neighbors next door told me she wouldn't stop barking when we were gone. We had no clue, since she didn't bark when we were home. We began to work with her to keep peace in the 'hood, but...we began to get nasty notes in our mail box, unsigned of course. Then we heard that a petition was being circulated to have her put down. We got a bark collar, but it didnt' work once she figured out it would shock her on the third bark. Nothing like hearing "bark, bark...bark, bark...bark,bark...We finally got to where we had to keep her inside when we left the house. In the mean time, cranky neighbor filed a noise complaint with the noise abatement department. When I talked to them, I found out that the creepy neighbor lived across the canyon from us, and when they heard there was a canyon involved, the complaint was dismissed. This same neighbor complained about every neighbor within a 4 block radius and then some. We've watched this go on for 17 years. 10 years ago, our German shepherd died, and with it went our barking problem, while he kept searching for any noise to complain about.
Coming up to date, Dog has grown up and he does bark, and play and is silly, but just a normal dog. We've trained him to be a bit quieter. I knew that crabby noise policeman canyon neighbor would find out, and we would be in his radar, again. And we made it! On Wednesday evening, while I was at Bible study, he came over and rang the door bell, heard Dog barking. The Girl called me and I left Bible study to stop this insanity NOW. I left and went directly to this ne'er do well's house and laid on his door bell at 8:00 in the evening. It was ON!
When he answered the door I promptly asked him if he had something he wanted to talk to me about. But I am sure I said it with flare, or at least in an intimidating way. He had just made me so mad! I told him to leave us alone, he had no right to show up in the dark, and I would have been furious-er if my Girl had answered the door and he should not have expected a woman to do that! I threatened him with a civil harassment suit if he even thought about driving down my street. I told him everyone in the 'hood knew him and what he was doing. After I railed, he apologized, promised to never come over again. I did believe him, and I did give him my number. He has to talk to me, no notes, no noise complaints. He mentioned he has a hearing sensitivity. He needs to MOVE to a cemetery, where it's mostly quiet. Yes, he has called and realized when he called it isn't my dog. He's still creepy and odd.
17 years, and what do I have to look forward to now? I feel like Wonder Woman!
