Mary Poppins Lives!

I have watched Mary Poppins so many times in my life that I can nearly sing all the songs like Julie and Dick, but not nearly as pleasantly or on key. The movie is fun to watch and and sing along to. I love the "real" world mixed with the animated world and how incredibly well that was done. I can never pick out my favorite parts, but I did like jumping into the chalk drawing and the room that cleans up by itself with a song. Oh, the carpet bag that must be bottomless to include a lamp, mirror and hat tree. Yes, I really enjoy that movie.

This week we lived a bit of it. The weather has been warm and windy, and I almost heard the words from Admiral Boom, " A word of advice, young man. Storm signals are up at number 17. Bit of heavy weather brewing there." The afternoon combined with the canyon make the wind really whip up and standing in the kitchen getting a kiss from the Husband was an odd time to hear thumbing on the roof. I looked out the window over the sink and immediately saw the umbrella on the table was missing. I told the Husband we needed to get the umbrella off the roof, but he couldn't fathom what I was saying until we went out side and saw....

Yep, there it was, on top of the roof. Amazingly, it didn't hit any cable lines and we successfully got it down and placed it back into the hole in the patio table. Only one spoke is a little tweaked, but not bad. We have actually wired it down to the table, now. We like to sit on the patio and drink coffee or cold drinks and I didn't want to have to store it because of the summer winds.

This is not the first umbrella we have lost to wind, though. Several years ago, I came home from a teaching job at a church school and found our green patio umbrella nearly impaled into the neighbors stucco wall. It was balanced on the fence with the pointy edge inches from the wall. Oh was God every with us that day!

The work week had ended, and I am glad. Each day is one day less, and that attitude may not be so healthy but it keeps me smiling when the tenants/owners/boss irritate me. It's like my own Cheshire cat grin.
