I wouldn't presume to measure this day with some of the most famous days in history, such as VE Day, Cinco De Mayo or other liberation days, but I think I will call today Laissez Faire Day.
I will not care if you want something or not,
I will not care if your stove is not hot,
I will not care if you need a plumber,
You will need to call the office and here is the number.
I will not answer my phone when you call,
If after hours your walls they do fall,
I will not text you back if you dare,
to beseech me to fix to your trouble extraordinaire.
If your light goes out,
Don't fret and pout,
The Home Depot is open,
nearly every day without doubt.
Don't whine to me pitifully,
If your disposal is stuck
Look on You Tube for a video,
and you can avoid the muck.
Most important of all,
I don't really care,
If you need help from me,
I am simply not there!
I have enjoyed this job for most of the time I've worked there. However, I was thinking back about some of my gripes. So here they are as I can recall:
A credit card was taken out IN MY NAME for the company using my credit. Can you spell identity theft? Yep that was stupid.
Of course the lawsuit.
Numerous shady elements of bookkeeping.
"No your job will not require you to drive" lie.
"No we will not pay your phone line costs just because we demand that you use your personal cell phone for business"
Yelling, I hate yelling.
The things I will miss:
Some great vendors! I have a couple of vendors who will make me smile when I hear them begin talking. I will miss them terribly. I brought them with me when I came and have enjoyed working with them for 5 years.
Some unique tenants. Some more unique than others.
Some very funny stories of some unique tenants.
Some owners, who started out being very rude to become decent to me over time. It is a challenge I don't mind.
Some great co-workers
One last thing the boss did, in being totally not with it, he emailed about having lunch for me NEXT WEEK. Excuse me? Yeah, that's the boss. Totally unprepared for anything.
Hallelujah, you are finished! And great poem. :)
