So, I have arrived at the end of another week. Sometimes the weeks are full and never ending, and some weeks are just dragging. This week was not dragging.
The Brother in law is moving in with the Mother in law this week. I spend last Sunday cleaning the garage. Hang on, this all ties in with moving. Kitty is getting old and becoming rather picky about his litter box. He isn't allow to be outside at night because of the coyotes so he has to sleep in the garage. That's why I need a litter box for him. I clean it nearly daily, because if I don't, he will find somewhere else to go. In the garage, under his box, is a piece of carpet. I hate that carpet, never understood why it was there to begin with. So, if the box isn't to his liking, then there is the carpet. Yup. Add to the continence issue, he's a long haired kitty and barfs hairballs all the tine. So, there is the usual barf on the carpet that has to be clean up, daily, and any miss messes, along with garage events. I hate that carpet.
Well, being the events that were, the carpet finally smelled so bad it had to go! Thats where cleaning the garage came into play. I spent the entire afternoon on Sunday cleaning the garage. Lots to toss, some for DAV, and much to put up. And I had to take up the smelly rug. It was in the garage area with the file cabinet, freezer and bookcase on the edges, so everything had to be moved. That wasn't easy. Finally got the carpet freed from all the weights and started rolling it up to drag the carcass out. I found the folks before us had tiled under the carpet. Now this is probably a 12x12 square area. What's that about? I think that they used that area as a party area. When we moved in there was stereo lines and stuff in there.
I cleaned the floor with an old floor buffer/scrubber. It worked well. And to think I nearly gave that machine away! It must be 45 yrs old and still worked like a draft horse. Everything was moved back and the garage smelled good, well as good as a garage can. I was able to get to the freezer and laundry machines without having to step over something or move something. It was freeing.
The the Brother in law came by on Monday and asked to store his tools in the garage....so now you know why I may be a bit miffed. You see, we have a ton of stuff from his last move 8 years ago that he has never done anything with in the middle of the garage and now we have his tools. I just want to walk into my garage and not be assaulted with stuff. Or be embarrassed when someone sees the stuff.
And that, my friends, is the reason this started with my Brother in law moving in with my Mother in law. He will be moving this weekend and I can pretty much say, by Wednesday the this next week, it will all be a mad house. But at least my garage, while fuller than last week, is not a smelly wreck.
My last event of the week was a new job. I am still working the old job part time and now working at a new job part time. When September comes, I will stop working at the old job and work full time at the new job. It makes for a long week, but I do like the new job and the company has a better work ethic. I don't feel like I am being taken advantage of, bilked or being asked to provide overhead. Looking forward to a new start.
Just reading the garage-cleaning story made me tired. I'm always embarrassed when people see our garage ...
ReplyDeleteHurray for a new job!
